Land Registry Disputes

If the Land Registry makes a mistake which adversely affects the title of a registered owner, the owner can apply to rectify the mistake.

The owner is also entitled to an indemnity (compensation) if they suffer loss by reason of rectification of the register.

If parties to a land dispute concerning records held by the Land Registry can’t reach an agreement, and they haven’t taken the case to court, the Land Registry is obliged to refer the matter to the Land Registration division of the Property Chamber, First-Tier Tribunal.
