Rejection Policy Widens for First Registrations

Following the success of 2017’s tests to widen the rejection criteria on first registration applications, the Land Registry has announced that the four tested criteria will apply from 8 October 2018.

Applications will be rejected when: an AP1 application form is submitted instead of an FR1 application form; panel 3 of the FR1, extent of land sought to be registered, is not completed; panel 5 of the FR1, value of land and fee paid, is not completed or no fee has been lodged; or panel 12 of FR1, certificate of title, is not completed. In addition the trial of a further 6 criteria will begin from 8 October 2018.
